The above video was from an actual live stream of a Catholic Requim Mass at Church of St Gregory the Great RC Church in Cheltenham, UK, with Rev. Canon David Mills VF.

From the arrival of the hearse through to the Funeral Director Pacing the cars away, people from Australia, New Zealand, USA and the UK could see and hear everything that was going on.  Peter streams so that people at home can feel a part of the proceedings and say their own 'goodbyes' in their own way.

Live Streaming for Catholic Requiem Masses in the Midlands

When someone dies, Catholic families across Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Derby, Nottingham and the wider Midlands often hold the funeral within a week or two, and not everyone who loved them can be in the church. Relatives overseas, elderly parishioners, and friends who are unwell may still wish to pray alongside the family. Peter at Funeral.Video offers respectful, discreet live streaming of Requiem Masses, so that no one has to say goodbye alone.

A Funeral Centred on Hope

For Catholics, the funeral liturgy is an act of worship as much as a farewell. The Requiem Mass commends the deceased to God's mercy and rests on the belief in the resurrection and eternal life. It is a service of prayer, scripture and Holy Communion, and it offers comfort to the bereaved as well as prayers for the departed.

How the Funeral Journey Unfolds

Parishes and families vary in their arrangements, but a Catholic funeral often follows three stages.
The Vigil or Reception of the Body. On the evening before the funeral, the coffin is often received into the church. Family and friends gather for prayer, and a priest may lead a Vigil service or the Rosary. The Paschal candle is lit as a sign of Christ's light, and the coffin may be sprinkled with holy water as a reminder of baptism.

The Requiem Mass

The Funeral Mass is the heart of the occasion. It usually includes an opening procession, readings from scripture, a Gospel reading and a homily in which the priest reflects on the life and faith of the deceased. Family members often take part by doing a reading, offering the Prayers of the Faithful, or bringing forward the gifts of bread and wine. Hymns are sung throughout, and Holy Communion is offered to Catholics in a state of grace. Others may come forward for a blessing, in line with the parish's practice. The Mass closes with the Final Commendation, in which the priest incenses and sprinkles the coffin, and the congregation prays for the departed soul.

The Committal

After Mass, the family travels to the cemetery or crematorium for the Rite of Committal. The priest offers prayers as the coffin is laid in the grave or committed to cremation. The Catholic Church permits cremation, and asks that the ashes be buried or entombed in a sacred place rather than scattered or kept at home.

Afterwards, many families gather for refreshments, share memories and stay in touch with their parish community. A memorial Mass may be offered on later anniversaries.

How We Stream

We understand that a Requiem Mass is a sacred celebration, and we work closely with the priest, the parish and the family to be respectful at every moment.

We obtain the parish's permission before streaming and follow any guidance on camera positions.

Cameras and microphones are placed discreetly, so the congregation is not distracted.

We aim for clear audio of the readings, homily, hymns and prayers.

Each stream has a private link, shared only with the people the family chooses.

Guests need no app or account, and can join on a phone, tablet or computer from anywhere in the world.

We can stream the Vigil, Requiem Mass, committal, or all three, depending on the family's wishes and the venue's rules.

We know funerals are arranged at a difficult time, so we aim to respond quickly, including evenings and weekends.

Common Questions

Can viewers take part in the prayers?
Absolutely. Many viewers follow the responses, sing the hymns, and pray the Rosary or say a quiet prayer at home. Please note that Holy Communion can only be received in person.

Can the committal be streamed?
If the family and the cemetery or crematorium agree. Some families prefer to stream only the Mass, which we are happy to do.

What should viewers wear?
Respectful, simple clothing is fitting. Black is traditional, though many families now invite bright colours or a favourite shade in celebration of the person's life.

Can the stream be recorded?
Recordings are / are not available. We ask guests not to record or share the stream without the family's permission.
