The above video was from an actual live stream of a Catholic Requim Mass at Church of St Gregory the Great RC Church in Cheltenham, UK, with Rev. Canon David Mills VF.

From the arrival of the hearse through to the Funeral Director Pacing the cars away, people from Australia, New Zealand, USA and the UK could see and hear everything that was going on.  Peter streams so that people at home can feel a part of the proceedings and say their own 'goodbyes' in their own way.

Live Streaming for Church Funerals in the Midlands

A church funeral is often the moment a whole community comes together. Across Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Worcester, Derby, Nottingham, Stoke and the wider Midlands, families fill village churches and city parishes to celebrate a life and give thanks for it. But friends and relatives are often scattered, and some are too frail or unwell to attend. Peter at Funeral.video offers respectful, discreet live streaming from churches across the region, so that everyone who cares can be part of the day.

Many Traditions, One Purpose

Church funerals in the Midlands are held in Church of England, Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed, Pentecostal and many other congregations, and each has its own character. Whatever the denomination, the funeral does two things: it gives thanks for the life of the person who has died, and it commends them to God's care while comforting those who mourn. Many families also choose a service that reflects the personality of their loved one, with favourite hymns, music and memories.

The Shape of the Service

Every minister and family will shape the service differently, but a church funeral often follows this order:

Arrival
Mourners gather as the coffin is brought into church, often carried by family members, friends or the funeral directors, while quiet music plays.

Welcome and opening prayers
The minister welcomes everyone and offers words of comfort and a first prayer.

Hymns and music
Congregational hymns are sung, often well-known favourites. Many families also include a favourite piece of recorded or live music.

Readings
Passages from the Bible are read, often by a family member or friend, alongside a poem or personal reading.

Tribute and address
A relative or friend may give a eulogy, and the minister reflects on the life of the deceased and the Christian message of hope.

Prayers
The congregation prays for the person who has died and for the family, usually ending with the Lord's Prayer.

Commendation and farewell
The minister commends the deceased to God, and the congregation sits or stands quietly before the coffin is carried out.

Committal
At the churchyard, cemetery or crematorium, the minister says the final words as the coffin is laid in the grave or committed to cremation. Close family often attend this part privately.
Afterwards, families often gather for tea, sandwiches and shared memories in the church hall, a pub or a family home.

How We Stream

We understand that a funeral is a sacred and deeply personal occasion, so we work closely with the minister, the church and the family.

We ask the church for permission before streaming and follow any guidance about camera positions and use of the building.

Our cameras and microphones are placed discreetly, so the congregation is not distracted.

We aim for clear sound, so that viewers can hear the readings, the tributes, the hymns and the prayers.

Each stream has a private link, shared only with the people the family chooses.

Guests need no app or account, and can watch on a phone, tablet or computer from anywhere in the world.

We can stream the church service, the committal, the gathering afterwards, or all of these, depending on the family's wishes and the venue's rules.

We know funerals are arranged at a difficult time, so we aim to respond quickly, including evenings and weekends.

Questions Families Often Ask

Can viewers join in the hymns and prayers?
Of course. Many viewers sing along, say the Lord's Prayer and reflect quietly at home. Some like to light a candle while they watch.

Can we include a slideshow or recorded music?
Yes, we can work with the church's system / please ask us. It is best to discuss this when you book.

Can the stream be recorded?
The live stream is recorded and put back onto the original web page for downloading. We ask guests not to record or share the stream without the family's permission.
